Greg Olson Sensei Seminar

Rising Sun Aikido will have the pleasure of hosting a seminar with Greg Olson Sensei November 2 through 4. Olson Sensei holds a sixth-degree black belt in Aikido (Rokudan) and a third-degree black belt in Judo (Sandan). Mitsugi Saotome Shihan awarded Olson Sensei his 6th degree black belt as recognition of his skill and dedication to Aikido. Today, Olson Sensei continues to train as a student of Saotome Shihan and Hiroshi Ikeda Shihan.

Olson Sensei began his martial arts training in 1964 at the age of fifteen, studying Judo. He studied Judo extensively in Asia with two years of intensive training in Seoul, Korea at Kyong-gi College and the Kodokan in Tokyo, Japan. In these competitive years, he won the silver medal in the 1974 United States Collegiate Judo Nationals, Minnesota State Judo Championships, Montana State Judo Championships, the Inland Empire Judo Championships, as well as many other competitions. It is during this 15 years of judo training that he discovered Aikido. With its core of ethics and philosophy, the gentle and effective art of Aikido appealed to his direction in life. Therefore, he again traveled to Tokyo to study this art, first hand, from the Founder's son and the Head of world Aikido, Kissumaru Ueshiba.

Olson Sensei is both an inspirational and entertaining instructor who has taught Aikido for more than 32 years at Big Sky Aikido. and has more than 45 years of martial-arts experience.
